A big thank you to all who turned up for the webinar last week hosted by renowned family therapist, Dr Reenee Singh. Wasn't it such a delight for many of us to welcome back Reenee, an old friend of Singapore's counselling and therapy fraternity?
Dr. Reenee, also a co-founder of the London Intercultural Couples Centre, went through an overview of the literature in recent years before delivering fresh insights from her intercultural practice and research, which included explorations in themes such as home and migration; love and intimacy; language and communication; religion, faith and the family life cycle; and parenting issues etc. Several methods of clinical interventions such as the use of cultural genogram, culturegram, emotion maps, positioning lines and internalised other interviewing were also discussed. Reenee engaged the audience in a short but lively Q&A session before ending off with a gentle reminder about (over)adopting a culturalist perspective when handling intercultural work.
For more information about Dr. Reenee's research, kindly refer to her recent publication:
See you again at our next webinar!
